Mother Baby Unit After the immediate recovery, moms and their families spend the rest of their stay in the Mother Baby Unit, where rooms feature private bathrooms with showers, cribs for baby and rocker/gliders and daybeds for support people. We provide a rooming-in environment for moms and babies. Research supports that mothers are able to rest and sleep better knowing their newborn is nearby. For safety, we ask that babies be placed in the bassinet next to your bed when mom is ready to sleep. Having your baby in the room gives you the opportunity to become more comfortable and confident in your ability to care for your newborn. You'll receive your own DVD video to take home called, "Baby's First Month: What Do We Do Now?" This will give you detailed instructions on baby care, feeding baby, breastfeeding, bathing, taking baby's temperature and more. It also reviews taking care of mom, and notes other resources for new families. You will also receive several gift items for you and baby. After the first week, a nurse will call you at home to follow-up on your recovery and to answer any questions you may have about caring for you and your baby.
