Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is designed for babies who need advanced care. For example, babies who are born prematurely, or who have breathing problems. In this nursery, around-the-clock neonatologists, doctors with special training for sick newborns, and sophisticated equipment monitor babies around the clock. In this nursery, highly trained staff and sophisticated equipment monitor babies around the clock. Physicians specializing in premature newborn care, Neonatologists, are available if needed through Northwest Newborn Specialists. We have moved to a higher level of care for the newborns in our community and are now able to provide care for premature babies born as early as 26 weeks gestation; that is 14 weeks earlier than the estimated due date! Families are encouraged to participate in the care of their babies. Each cubicle has a daybed and a rocker/glider to support families being together with their newborns. We know that this may be an unexpected and difficult time for your family. Our goal is to make your stay with us as comfortable as possible.
