Salem Hospital Breast Care Program
Providing Comprehensive, Compassionate Personalized Care

The Salem Hospital Breast Care Program focuses on the whole patient, combining the competence of our excellent medical staff with the compassion of our breast care support services in a collaborative environment to provide the most effective and informative healthcare experience.

Most breast concerns turn out to have nothing to do with cancer. Studies show that women are more fearful of breast cancer than heart disease or lung cancer even though these illnesses are more likely to affect mortality. However, we realize that this can be a very anxiety provoking time for women and their families.

To help alleviate anxiety, Salem Hospital provides a full program of options to our patients:

  • Central to this program is our Breast Care Coordinator who is available to patients as a personal contact for support, information, and guidance throughout their healthcare experience in a compassionate and caring environment

  • The Center offers special procedures for women at high risk of breast cancer that take into account a patient’s particular circumstances and offers additional services and recommendations

  • The Navigator Support Program is led by a group of volunteer breast-cancer survivors.  These women provide personal one-on-one support for cancer patients and their families.

  • Educational opportunities and events on breast health include lectures, events and community activities are provided by the hospital as well as local organizations

  • Recommended reading for all women concerned with breast health is available through the Salem Medical Library

  • Community Services and Breast Health Support Network  is a listing of useful organizations and businesses that provide various breast health and cancer patient services
