Employment at Salem Hospital & West Valley Hospital

Salem Hospital & West Valley Hospital aim to provide a competitive and comprehensive total rewards package including compensation, benefits, work environment, and development and recognition opportunities. Check out the following summaries, or ask a recruiter for more details.

Health and wellness benefits
For medical coverage, choose between two national plans, a Preferred Provider Option (PPO) and a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO). Both offer competitive coverage and wellness programs. Coverage is also available for spouses, domestic partners, and dependents.

Dental insurance takes care of your smile with any provider, featuring 100% coverage of preventative care and available orthodontia insurance.

Vision plan includes a wide network, discounts on additional purchases or services over the coverage limits, and discounts on Lasik or PRK surgery.

Enjoy a discount at our in-house pharmacy for over-the-counter purchases, and the convenience of the pharmacy for purchasing prescriptions.

Employee wellness opportunities
We offer low-price memberships to the Employee Fitness Center (World Gym in Dallas for West Valley Hospital employees), access to Health Risk Appraisals and other health information, and opportunities to join wellness programs including Weight Watchers, Choices for Health, Pilates classes, and more.

Paid time off
Full-time employees receive 16-31 days a year of paid time off, depending on length of service and position. In addition, employees receive 6 paid national holidays, an annual birthday holiday, and two personal floating holidays.

Short-term and long-term disability plans
The Hospitals provide insurance for both short-term and long-term disability coverage. These plans offer partial income protection in the event of a serious illness or disability.

Retirement plan
We offer a 401(k) plan with several investment options available. Employees may contribute 1% to 16% of earnings (up to IRS limits). Salem & West Valley Hospitals contribute an additional amount based on length of service and amount of employee contribution. After your first year at Salem & West Valley Hospitals, you may receive up to a 5.5% contribution.

Education assistance & personal development
Salem & West Valley Hospitals have well-developed programs available to support employees in further education and personal development. We offer tuition reimbursement and waiver opportunities, certification and re-certification costs in many fields, educational loan repayment programs for some positions, and a Career Path Assistance program for employees to assist in planning your career.

In addition, our in-house education department provides valuable classes to keep your skills current and provide ongoing development throughout the year. Dedication to a profession, experience, and ongoing professional development will pay off with career ladders for RNs and some other professions.

Employee assistance program
A confidential counseling service is available for employees and their immediate families. Our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offers support and information on a variety of topics, such as family or marital counseling, stress management, grieving a loss, and financial concerns.

Basic and supplemental life insurance
Hospital-paid basic life insurance, including accidental death and disability insurance, is provided for regularly scheduled full-time employees. Supplemental life insurance for your self, spouse, or dependents is also available.

Flexible spending accounts
Two flexible spending account options allow employees to set aside pre-tax dollars for medical expenses, certain insurance premiums, or dependent care.

Tax-sheltered annuities
Beyond the 401(k), tax-sheltered annuities are an additional option for investing pre-tax dollars for retirement.

Tender touch care
For a sick child, consider this on-site care (availability varies), at a modest price (mild illnesses only).
