This department is responsible for calibration on linear accelerators, a stimulator, a CT simulator/scanner, and perform surveys on x-ray tubes, CT scanners, 3MRI unit, and gamma cameras.

Department Duties

• Supports the Imaging Department in its delivery of patient services by:
• Calibration of equipment.
• Advice on selection of new radiographic equipment.
• Performing radiation shielding calculations.
• Providing and verifying dosimetry data and calculations.
• Maintaining the inventory of radioactive sources.
• A medical physicist is the Radiation Safety Officer, and administers the hospital's radiation safety program.
