This department supports those directly involved in the delivery of patient care, or to provide extra personnel to the patient care areas.
Scope of Patient Care
Surgical Services provides care for inpatients and outpatients including nursing assessment, reassessment, monitoring, nursing interventions, patient and family education and discharge planning for the following specialties: neurosurgery, orthopedic, gynecology, genito-urinary, otolaryngology, dental, general surgery, plastic surgery, cardiovascular, ophthalmology, and gastroenterology and pulmonary endoscopic procedure.
Department Duties
- Provide 24-hour scheduling.
- Assist the Human Resources department in monitoring professional licensure.
- Provide statistical reports to the nursing management team.
- The Float Pool provides nursing resources to inpatient departments, Emergency Department (ED), and Psychiatric Medicine Center (PMC) to fill daily vacancies and manage increased patient volumes.
- The Float Pool provides as needed nursing resources additionally to Endoscopy, 4NW, SHAPES and other areas as requested by the nursing manage.
