This department serves the community by providing comprehensive medical rehabilitation services to assist individuals with disabling injury or illness, achieve the highest level of function and the most satisfying quality of life.
Scope of Patient Care
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation services are all considered part of a continuum of care, and every effort is made to collaboratively work with other providers. The consumers of our services are considered an integral part of the team and their goals guide those we set.
Department Duties
- Acute Rehabilitation Services
- Services Include: Evaluation, treatment planning, goal setting, patient/family training, and discharge planning by speech therapy, occupational therapy and physical therapy.
- Cardiac Rehabilitation
- Patients appropriate for these services include those who have had significant myocardial involvement, are in need of a program to help restore them to the same or as improved level of functioning as prior to their event, need to make major lifestyle changes (2-3 risk factors present), or have return-to-work or lifestyle issues present.
- Diabetes Education (see Diabetes Education for details)
- Inpatient Comprehensive Rehabilitation
- Provides coordinated rehabilitative services to people with disabilities resulting from illness or injury related to the following conditions: CVA, brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation, arthritis, neuromuscular conditions and other complex illness or injuries.
- Outpatient Neuromuscular Rehabilitation
- Provides evaluations of physical, psychological and communication status, functional abilities, treatment plans, intervention, patient/family/caregiver education, and communications with the physician and other professionals involved in the patient’s rehabilitation.
- Musculoskeletal Continuum
- Orthopedic Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine
- Provide evaluation/assessment of physical status, functional abilities, treatment plan and goals, application of treatment, patient/family education, and communication with the physician.
- Work Injury Management (WIM)
- Provides evaluation and rehabilitative services for workers injured on the job.
- Hand Therapy
- Provides evaluations/assessments of the physical status and functional abilities of the patient, treatment recommendations, treatment plan, goals, and functional rehabilitation protocols.
- Occupational Medicine
- Provides acute injury management, injury prevention and evaluation services to employers and their workers.
