This department provides evaluation and treatment for adults, children, and adolescents experiencing symptoms of psychiatric illness under the direction of licensed medical practitioners specializing in psychiatry.
Scope of Patient Care
Psychiatric Services include inpatient hospitalization for adults and geriatrics; day hospitalization for children and adolescents; outpatient treatment, including assessment and consultation, for adults, geriatrics, children and adolescents; and community consultation.
Department Duties
- Major Clinical Functions Provided Included:
- Assessment, evaluation, and treatment by multidisciplinary professionals, including psychiatry, nursing, occupational therapy, therapeutic recreation, counseling and social work.
- Safe and supportive environment.
- Milieu, group, and individual therapies.
- Individual and Family Therapy in the day hospitalization program.
- Consultation with outside professionals, such as primary care physicians.
Department Professionals
- Psychiatrists: Graduates of accredited medical schools and psychiatric residency training programs, and licensed by the State of Oregon.
- Social Workers: Have Master of Social Work degrees from an accredited school of social work. Some are Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW), licensed by the state of Oregon.
- Child & Adolescent Day Hospital Program Clinicians: Have Master degrees in a human services or social services field, such as Marriage and Family therapy or Counseling. Clinicians may hold a License with the state of Oregon as a Licensed Practitioner of Counseling (LPC).
- Therapy Services Staff: Have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in a human services field.
- Occupational Therapists: Are registered with the American Occupational Therapy Association (or are registry eligible) and are licensed by the State of Oregon.
- Registered Nurses: Are graduates of accredited schools of nursing and are licensed by the State of Oregon. Some are also certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurses.
- Mental Health Assistants: Have associate degrees (or have two years of college) and have a nursing assistant certificate (CNA) issued by the Sate of Oregon.
