This department provides patients with appropriate and accurate billing to their insurance carriers.
Scope of Patient Care
The Patient Accounts department is responsible for answering any questions concerning insurance and financial issues.
Department Duties
- Process all self-pay and insurance payments.
- Process all monies collected by other departments.
- Complete bank deposits.
- Assist patients either in person or by telephone, with insurance issues.
- Help patients understand their hospital bill, and accept patient payment.
- A patient accounts representative is available to visit patients on patient care units to help the patient plan for and meet their financial obligations.

Educational/Skill Requirements
- Experience working in a hospital business office or doctor’s office.
