Happy has provided care to women in pregnancy, labor, and beyond for more than four decades. She has practiced in rural areas, non-hospital birth centers, an overseas refugee camp, inner city clinics, and served on the faculty of two medical schools. Happy Barnes relocated to Oregon from Texas in 2006. Her career stretches over 40 years--from out-of-hospital birth centers to inner city county hospitals. She has worked in Southeast Asia for the United Nations, county teen clinics, teaching hospitals, and a rural health center. She is active in legislative health concerns. She loves her adopted state for its natural beauty, its amazing cuisine, and the rich cultural opportunities. Outside work, she gardens, dotes on grandchildren, and wrangles chickens.
