Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) MRI is a non-invasive imaging technique that provides highly-detailed cross-sectional images of soft tissue structures around bones, blood vessels, organs, and the brain. Unlike CT, MRI uses no x-rays or radiation but rather combines the naturally occurring force of a magnetic field with radio waves to produce signals that are reconstructed on a digital computer. Salem Hospital has three state-of-the art MRI units at its facility, including a new open MRI to enhance patient comfort during an exam. Registered nurses are also available to address patients comfort or sedation needs. Location and Hours We have appointment times available from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., to accommodate your scheduling. We also offer open MRI located at 985 Mission Street on our campus, with appointment times Monday through Friday.
