The state's busiest Emergency Department is just one component of Salem Hospital's Critical Care Department. Other programs include FastTrack, the Urgent Care Center, Intensive Care Unit, Coronary Care Unit, Intermediate Care Unit, Congestive Heart Failure Unit and Cardiac Rehabilitation Services.

Salem Hospital’s intensive care unit is the first ICU in Oregon to earn the Beacon Award for Critical Care Excellence, an award given by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses and specifically designated to recognize the nation’s top hospital critical-care units.

Critical-care units that receive the Beacon Award have exhibited high quality standards, exceptional care of patients and their families, and healthy work environments.

Approximately 13,000 surgeries are performed annually in the Salem Hospital Surgical Services Department. More than 50 percent of those procedures are performed on an outpatient basis.

Salem Hospital is a recipient of the 2007 HealthGrades Cardiac Surgery Excellence Award™, ranking us among the top 5% of hospitals in the U.S.

Each year, more than 3,500 babies are born at Salem Hospital, which provides a comprehensive range of services for mothers and children.

We know a hospital can be a scary place for children, so our staff works hard to make each child in our care feel as comfortable and secure as possible.

Parents and family members play an important role in a child's recovery, and we encourage them to be as actively involved as they wish.

Parents are welcome to be with their children at any time and can even spend the night in their room. We can provide a Nintendo set or VCR.
