Walk to Help Others

Organizations that support cancer research, as well as people with cancer and their families, need your financial support. Why not take a walk this fall at these two great events?

The Discover Pink Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness will be held Saturday, Sept. 30 at Willson Park. Sponsored by the Salem YWCA, the event will raise money for breast-health screenings for local women without resources to visit a doctor. Call 503-581-9922, ext. 128.

Right image, from left to right, Tristi Tom, radiation therapist; Beverly Smith, R.N., radiation oncology manager; Char Andrews; and Elyse Gruber, rallied support for the Komen Foundation's annual Race for the Cure. Char Andrews was a peer navigator in the hospital's breast-care program, and active in other cancer and community activities. Her legacy reminds us all about the importance of being in charge of our own cancer experience, and living life to the fullest.
