A special supplement to the Messenger

What's new?

  1. The patient tower, with one level of underground parking. The dedicated ambulance entrance is on the south side of the tower, the walk-in ER entrance is on the east side (close to the parking structure), and the main entrance is on the northeast corner.

  2. Three new sky bridges make it easier to move between buildings and avoid street traffic.

  3. A circular drop-off serves all three Oak Street buildings and becomes the new center of campus. To achieve this drop-off area, we are planning a pedestrian plaza at Oak Street and Winter Street.

  4. The main campus entry points move to the corner of 12th and Oak Streets SE and the corner of Mission and Capitol Streets SE. Oak Street is straightened.

  5. Patients and visitors have priority parking in the current employee parking structure.

  6. The old Bush School block becomes surface parking with spots for shuttle pick-up. Some employee parking moves to this location. (Note: Wheelchair-accessible parking is located here and near building entrances.)

  7. The new Central Energy Plant (CEP) supports most of the campus.

  8. The Winter Street hospital continues to provide some services, primarily in the north and south towers, as they are the most recent additions.
