Community Health Forums are sponsored by the Salem Hospital Foundation. All forums are held in Wedel Auditorium in the basement of Salem Hospital.
Annual Heart Fair and Forum: “Cardiac Care: A Promising Future”
To have a strong, healthy heart you need to understand how to take care of it. Join us for our annual Heart Fair and Forum. At the Heart Fair, there will be more than 20 booths, where you can discuss cardiac services and how to maintain a healthy heart, see demonstrations of EKGs and angioplasty, get your blood pressure checked for free, and more.
At the Forum, Raghu Kamineni, M.D., cardiologist with Salem Cardiology Associates, will discuss the value of controlling key risk factors to keep your heart healthy and prevent heart attacks and heart disease. Dr. Kamineni will describe the promising future of cardiac care made possible with new cardiology techniques and procedures now available to cardiologists at Salem Hospital. Free.

Diabetes Awareness Day: “Living Well With Diabetes”
Please join us for our annual education fair and lectures about pre-diabetes, making healthy meal choices, exercise, tips for managing your diabetes, and how you can receive the most benefit from your healthcare team. You’ll also learn about the link between heart disease, stroke, and diabetes.
Taste our food samples, take our recipes, have your blood pressure and blood sugar tested (fasting required for blood sugar), and more. Free. Registration is required.

The Meth Epidemic in Our Community
Methamphetamine abuse threatens our community with violent crimes, the abuse and neglect of children, exposure to deadly chemicals, and fires. The health of the individual user is also severely impacted. Please join Rob Bovett, local attorney and member of the Governor’s Meth Task Force, along with local healthcare professionals and law-enforcement officers. They will discuss how our community is fighting this devastating epidemic. Free.
