What’s NEW

Salem Logo Salem Health
You probably have never heard of the name Pacific Health Horizons. In the 1980s, the Salem Hospital Board of Trustees created Pacific Health Horizons as a parent corporation for the hospital, so that the organization could offer services beyond those of an acute-care hospital.

Since that time, the name Pacific Health Horizons has primarily been used only in legal documents. In October, our Board of Trustees approved changing the name from Pacific Health Horizons to Salem Health, along with some changes in the organization’s logo and colors.

What’s changing
The cross in the logo has been updated and refined, and the colors changed from blue and red to silver and purple. “A part of Salem Health” follows each hospital’s name for clear identity within a comprehensive healthcare organization.

Salem Hospital LogoWhat isn’t changing
West Valley Hospital in Dallas keeps its name. Salem Hospital’s name doesn’t change, but the tag line “Regional Health Services” has been dropped.

Why change?
The name “Salem Health” better reflects the broad scope of healthcare we provide in addition to traditional acute-care hospital services. This range of services includes actively recruiting much-needed physicians to serve in our two-county area, bringing leading-edge treatment technologies to our communities and partnering with other care providers for the benefit of patients.

West Valley Hospital LogoResearch conducted before we made the changes revealed the need to refresh the design and colors in our logo to reflect an organization that is “professional, committed to excellence and viewed as warm, caring and approachable”—all positive attributes that a majority of the research participants expressed about our hospital.

For 112 years, the employees, physicians and volunteers of Salem Hospital and West Valley Hospital have dedicated their hands and hearts to the health and hope of our community. They will continue to do so, as our new name continues to reflect our enduring mission: “We strive to improve the health and well-being of the people and communities we serve.
