The Willamette Valley Midwives are the newest members of the Salem Health family. Staffed by four experienced nurse midwives, the group provides top-quality maternity care for women with low-risk pregnancies.

The four certified midwives who make up Willamette Valley Midwives, are Patricia “Happy” Barnes, Margaret Egeland, Kathryn “Kitty” Nielsen and Elenie Smith.

The Salem Hospital Family Birth Center Clinic’s OB hospitalists (obstetricians who staff the birth center around the clock) collaborate with the midwives as their supporting physician.

This collaboration provides a spectrum of care from low to high risk and allows for a seamless transition when higher levels of care become necessary.

Willamette Valley Midwives are currently seeing patients at the Salem Hospital Family Birth Center Clinic, 939 Oak Street, Salem, Ore. The midwives will move to a new clinic location sometime in February.
