Diabetes Education

Salem Hospital's Diabetes Education Center was founded in 1971 by Charles Campbell, M.D. Dr. Campbell was instrumental in the development of quality education for patients with diabetes.

We continue this work today. At Salem Hospital, certified diabetes educators help patients and their families learn how to live a healthy life with diabetes.

Whether you are newly diagnosed or have had diabetes for many years, we can help you learn more about how to manage your diabetes, control your blood sugar and avoid complications.

Salem Hospital offers diabetes education in group classes and individual appointments.

Your doctor’s referral is needed for all services.  We will be happy to assist in getting a referral, if needed.  Your insurance may cover one or more visits.

Please contact your insurance company if you have questions about diabetes education benefits.   A support person is welcome to attend with you free of charge.  For more information or to register call 503-561-6990.

A Nationally Recognized Program
Salem Hospital's Diabetes Education program has been Recognized by the American Diabetes Association for Quality Self-Management Education*.
