The staff in Salem Hospital’s Pediatric Department provides care for infants and children of all ages.  And while a hospital can be a scary place for a child, our staff will work to make you and your child as comfortable as possible.

Since family members play an important role in a child’s recovery and care, you’ll be involved in planning meals, baths and other activities for your child.  We encourage you to be as actively involved as you like.

But while you’re busy caring for a sick child, make sure to take care of yourself.  Having your child in the hospital can be stressful.  There may be times when you feel tired, angry or scared. 

Talking with your doctor, nurses or other parents may help.  We encourage these contacts, however keep in mind confidentiality and privacy is important. 

Also remember we’re here to answer any questions you may have, or to just listen.
