Education and support

You have probably been reading a lot about having a baby, but nothing compares to the face-to-face instruction you receive in our childbirth classes.

The Community Health Education Center offers several classes and support groups for new families. Explore what we have to offer online​.

New Moms’ Connections

Share the joys and challenges of your new role as a new mom. Weigh your baby, relax with other moms, find local resources, and discuss common concerns. Mondays, 11 a.m to 12:30 p.m.

Mom and Me: Breastfeeding Support

Get breastfeeding support from a Lactation Consultant, regardless of where or when you had your baby. Moms are encouraged to leave other children with family or friends to focus on baby’s feeding. Contact our Lactation consultants at 503-814-4539.

Infant CPR for New and Expectant Parents

Learn how to help a baby (up to age one) who is choking, how to respond to breathing or heart emergencies and how to childproof your home. Techniques based on American Heart Association Family and Friends guidance. Second Mondays, 6:30 to 8 p.m. or fourth Mondays, 4 to 5:30 p.m.

Boot Camp for New Dads

Get together with a skilled male facilitator to talk about what it’s like being a dad. Get confident in your new role. Second Mondays, every other month, 6:30 to 9 p.m.

Fathers of Young Children

For dads with children ages birth to eight who want to learn more about the art of parenting and building healthy relationships. This four-week series is offered several times throughout the year at the CHEC, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Car Seat Safety Clinics – and Help

Clinics with Safe Kids Willamette Valley every other month on Saturdays. Contact the CHEC for dates and locations.

Classes are also available in Spanish and translation services for other languages are provided as well.

And if in-person classes just won’t work with your schedule, we offer classes online too.
