Choosing your health care provider

A very important step after finding out you are pregnant is to find a health care provider who meets your needs. Finding the right provider will take some time, so plan to do this soon.

Quality: Your first concern

Each of the primary care physicians affiliated with Salem Health is committed to high quality health care that is right for you and your baby.

Ask about Salem Health affiliation

When you call to make an appointment, ask where the doctor has hospital privileges and where the doctor attends births.

Some health care practices may direct you to a specific hospital. Salem Health Family Birth Center provides each family quality care in the comfort of a state of-the-art facility.

The Salem Health Family Birth Center has 12 birthing suites, each with its own whirlpool bath and 26 mother-baby care rooms equipped with a sleeper couch, rocker glider and a family shower in each room.

Anesthesiologists and neonatologists are available 24 hours if you or your baby needs their expertise.

If needed, our neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) is available to take care of babies who are born prematurely or need the help of the specialized pediatricians and staff.

Learn about your health insurance

Most insurance plans have lists of participating physicians. Ask the doctor’s office staff if they accept your insurance when you call to schedule an appointment.
