Peer Navigator Program
Personal support for people diagnosed with cancer
What is a Peer Navigator?
Peer Navigators are cancer survivors who have been out of treatment for at least one year.
They are Salem Hospital volunteers who have completed the required volunteer training-- which includes an understanding of the importance of patient confidentiality.
They are dedicated to helping other cancer patients navigate the journey with as little difficulty as possible.
How can they help?
Peer Navigators connect with individuals facing a new cancer diagnosis or going through active treatment.
They have already walked this path and know what to expect. They can answer questions and offer support.
Peer Navigators can talk with patients over the phone or meet in person. This may be a one-time visit or ongoing throughout treatment.
How do I connect with a Peer Navigator?
Salem Cancer Institute offers a large number of Peer Navigators with various diagnoses who have experienced a variety of treatment types.
