Certified Nurses Assistant Program
We are currently not accepting applications for the Nurse Aide Trainee position; however, we’ll open for applications once the date of the next class has been determined. Please continue to watch regularly for updated information.
The selected candidates come from all backgrounds but usually demonstrate the following: enthusiasm for quality, customer service, a strong commitment to health care and a solid job history that demonstrates responsibility and caring professionalism.
If you are selected, you will be hired on as a Salem Hospital employee and will be paid a training wage while you are in class. Participants are in class 3 to 4 days per week, 7 to 8-hour shifts each day, and there is a strict attendance policy.
You are provided with the textbook and workbook for the class and will need to do a large amount of studying outside of class. You will be expected to purchase your uniforms and personal equipment such as stethoscope.
During the training, you will be expected to meet dress code requirements and follow Salem Hospital policies and procedures.
When you graduate from the class, you will be eligible to take the State certification exam.
Participants will be selected for a CNA position based upon successful completion of the program and earning their state nursing assistant certification, although there is no guarantee of a position, unit or shift.
If you become an employee of Salem Hospital, we do ask that you work for a minimum of one year in exchange for the training we have provided.
