Emergency Services
The Emergency Department has moved to 890 Oak Street. Enter the new campus from Mission Street SE to Capitol Street SE, or from 12th Street SE to Oak Street SE.
Salem Hospital is one of the states busiest Emergency Department, which served more than 84,000 people in 2007.
Our Emergency Department is staffed around the clock and prepared to handle all medical emergencies, including major traumas.
If it is not an emergency
For minor illnesses and injuries you can come to Salem Hospital's Urgent Care Center.
The following lists types of minor injuries or illnesses that can be treated in the Urgent Care Center:
- Upper respiratory/sinus infections
- Sprains
- Simple fractures of extremities only
- Sore throat
- Back pain (ambulatory)
- Asthma (mild)
- Minor work injury (first time)
- Urinary tract infection
- Fever
- Ear pain
- Lacerations (simple)
- Gastrointestinal-mild (diarrhea)
More serious symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath or stroke symptoms need to be treated in the Emergency Department.
