Salem Hospital earns top grades
HealthGrades®, the leading independent healthcare ratings company, awarded Salem Hospital a Joint Replacement Excellence Award™ for 2010, ranking Salem Hospital’s joint-replacement services in the top 10 percent nationally.
The award is based on the Twelfth Annual HealthGrades Hospital Quality in America Study, which analyzed 41 million patient records from virtually all of the nation’s 5,000 hospitals from 2006 through 2008.
Consistent improvement since 2003
The joint replacement award is Salem Hospital’s sixth Excellence Award from HealthGrades since 2007, an achievement CEO Norm Gruber says validates the hospital’s focus, with medical staff partners, on continual quality improvement for its patients. In addition, its number of five-star ratings has increased dramatically.
“For 2010, Salem Hospital received 10 five-star ratings from HealthGrades for better-than-expected outcomes,” says Gruber. “That’s a tremendous gain since 2003 when we received just one five-star rating.”
