Physiatrists
Physiatrists, (fizz-I-a-trists), are also known as rehabilitation physicians. They focus primarily on muscular, skeletal and nerve-related aspects of pain management.
Physiatrists treat an array of injuries and ailments - from achy joints to spinal cord injuries. Their objective is to decrease pain and enhance movement without surgery.
The physiatrist helps the Multi-D team define a treatment plan that you can do by yourself, or with the aid of others.
Because of their broad medical perspective and training, physiatrists are important allies in a pain management strategy.
When needed, the Comprehensive Pain Center's team also relies on the ready advice and skills of local occupational therapists, imaging and radiological technicians and psychiatrists.
