Things to know

Smoking Policy

Salem Hospital is a smoke-free facility. Smoking is not allowed anywhere on campus.

Talk to your healthcare provider about resources to help you quit or cut back on your smoking before your planned hospital stay. Protect your newborn baby from any second hand smoke.

Students

Salem Hospital is a teaching facility for nursing and emergency medical technicians (EMTs) with area colleges.

Let your nurse know if you have any questions or concerns about students participating in your care.

Many new parents enjoy the opportunity to have an extra caretaker and to be able to contribute to their learning process.

Security Staff

An escort is available to accompany visitors to their cars, especially after dark and late at night. If an escort is needed, have your nurse call security.

Cell Phones

Cell phones and two-way radios can create hazardous interference with medical equipment. Please use them in areas at least six feet away from equipment.

Latex Balloon Free

Due to increasing latex allergies among patients and staff, no latex balloons are allowed in the hospital. Mylar balloons are still welcome.

Elevators

Families and guests are to use the elevators off the main lobbies to move about the facility, unless escorted by staff. The stairwells are secured and not available for public use.
