Planning for childbirth - Getting ready

Learn as much as you can about giving birth.

Read. Go to childbirth preparation classes and ask questions about anything you don’t understand.

Learn how to relax.

Use slow, easy breathing to help mange the discomfort and pain of labor.

Think about the comfort measures you would like to try during labor.

Perhaps taking a shower or jacuzzi, listening to music or getting a massage. Ask for these when you are in labor.

Tour the maternity area.

Find out what comfort measures are there and what you want to bring from home. Ask a member of your healthcare team what is available to you for pain relief.

Schedule for classes and tours
