Diabetes and pregnancy program

Salem Hospital's Sweet Mom program is an educational program for women with diabetes during pregnancy. This program teaches you how to safely manage your diabetes during your pregnancy.

A registered nurse will explain gestational diabetes, show you how to check your blood sugar, and explain the potential risks to you and your baby.

A registered dietitian will meet with you to develop a meal plan that will ensure good nutrition for your baby and controlled weight gain for you.

You will be offered follow-up appointments with staff as needed throughout your pregnancy.

After your baby is born, you may be interested in an individual appointment with a dietitian to learn how you can reduce your risk of diabetes in the future, how to lose any extra weight you gained during pregnancy, and how to maintain healthy lifestyle habits.

A physician's referral is required for services. Call 503-561-6990 for more information.
