Financial arrangements
If You Have Insurance
We will bill your insurance company for your hospital stay provided that we have the necessary information. We will copy your insurance card, so please bring it with you.
Insurance companies have certain requirements that must be met before they will pay your bill:
- Some must authorize your stay prior to your admission. If this is not done by you or your physician, there may be a reduction in your benefits.
- Most require that you add your baby to the policy within 30 days of birth.
- Many require that you are treated only by a “participating provider.” Check with your healthcare provider.
Call your insurance company to find out what their requirements are, and to discuss what is and what is not covered by your policy.
All hospital bills are due and payable 90 days from discharge, regardless of whether or not your insurance has paid. You may make other arrangements by calling a counselor at 503-561-5150.
If You Don’t Have Insurance
If you are pregnant and do not have insurance, contact Oregon MothersCare at Salem Hospital at 503-562-4092. We will help you enroll in the Oregon Health Plan, if eligible, and help you find prenatal care if needed.
If You Are a Member of the Oregon Health Plan
Your baby has automatic coverage under your grant. However, you must add the baby to your grant within 30 days.
Contact your caseworker as soon as possible after discharge. You are responsible for the baby’s bill until eligibility is confirmed.
