Working Guidelines for the Evaluation of Sponsorship Funding Requests

All requests for the following types of support or in-kind donation requests should be forwarded to the sponsorship coordinator via email at sponsorship.coordinator@salemhospital.com, or fax to 503-561-4836.

  • Community events requesting sponsorship (walks, runs, auctions, etc.)
  • Donations
  • Event participation or contribution
  • Fundraising dinners
  • Neighborhood service organizations (Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, community development organizations)
  • School booster groups/sports teams/graduation night events
  • Cultural programs/events

Priority will be given to:

  • Not-for-profit organization
  • Activities that specifically support our mission “to improve the health and well being of the people and community we serve” and our strategic goals.
  • Fundraising events for organizations that have close relationships with Salem Hospital’s clinical programs, specifically its key service lines including oncology, cardiac, digestive, women and children’s, and neuromusculoskeletal.
  • Requests that provide positive public awareness of Salem Hospital Regional Health Services.
  • Activities that address key community benchmarks and population health improvement initiatives.
  • Activities that promote public awareness in the areas we serve.
  • Activities that accommodate business organizations such as SEDCOR, the Salem Chamber of Commerce, etc.
  • Schools and neighborhood organizations that are in geographic proximity to Salem Hospital Regional Health Services facilities.

Please note, only not-for-profit organizations will be considered for funding. Sponsorships for national organizations must be centered on a local or regional event, i.e. American Heart Walk, Komen Race for the Cure, Open Heart Open, etc. Policies action or legislative advocacy groups, endowment funds or multiple-year pledge campaigns will not be considered.

The sponsorship coordinator will screen against the priorities listed above before sending to the Cabinet Community and Planning Committee for further consideration. This committee meets on a semi-monthly basis to review sponsorship requests. All requests will receive written notice of the committee’s decision as soon as a decision has been reached.

The West Valley CEO will be consulted on sponsorships relating to West Valley Hospital and its surrounding areas. No organization will receive more than $5,000 combined, per fiscal year, without approval from Administration.
