Volunteer Services

The Volunteer Services Department at the Salem Hospital provides volunteers throughout the organization and contributes to the building of the workforce of tomorrow.

We have adult and student volunteer opportunities, as well as the career exploration program.

Volunteers and students assist with many of the programs at the hospital including auxiliaries, friendly visiting, greeting and way-finding, family support roles, providing patient directory information, helping in the gift shops, offering computer and clerical assistance, escorting patients to their destinations, and supporting community events.

Volunteers typically work a minimum of one three-to four-hour shift weekly.  Volunteers commit to a minimum of six months of consecutive service.  Placements are based on what is suitable for our hospital needs, as well as provide some flexibility in scheduling to accommodate your schedule.

We complement the hospital staff in providing physical, social, emotional and spiritual support for the well-being of our patients and their families and friends.
